Kelcy Warren, founder and CEO of Energy Transfer Partners, was born in 1955 in Gladewater. The small town is located in the eastern part of Texas. He had a humble background while growing up. His father was a gauger and ditch digger. His parents didn’t have the chance to have a decent education. His father only read up to high school.

Kelcy Warren explains that he was contented with his father’s contribution towards making a better life for him and his siblings. He admired his father for his simplicity in handling various matters. On the other hand, Kelcy Warren’s mother lacked the chance to complete her final year in high school. She worked in a store department.

Both parents had to have missed the higher education opportunities. They didn’t want the same to happen to their kids. Warren’s first sibling set the path for them by being the first one to join college. Warren neighborhood had a church they regularly visited as a family whenever it was open.

The boys’ families associated themselves with church scouting activities. His mother was a den leader, while the father was a scoutmaster. The parents were directly involved in their warren and the siblings’ education by holding different school leadership positions.

With financial matters being tough on the Kelcy Warren family, both parents had to work extra jobs to meet the household demands. His father opened a trailer to supplement and manage the bills. He also decided to try out paperwork. Warren assisted his father in running the business. At 12, Kelcy Warren was also exposed to doing odd jobs at a gas station

There he helped fix leaking and old pipes, pipeline construction, and maintenance of telephone lines. Kelcy Warren was a big dreamer making him join the University of Texas at Arlington. He paid school fees with what he had earned in his teen years. He later pursued courses dealing with civil engineering that opened up doors for him.
